Cue Advice – How to Choose the Right Snooker Cue

At CueShop Official Store, we understand that choosing the right snooker cue is essential for improving your performance. The right cue depends on several factors such as wood type (ash or maple), tip size, weight, and balance.

1. Ash vs Maple

  • Ash cues: lighter, with visible grain lines for better sighting.

  • Maple cues: denser, smoother in appearance, preferred by players who want a firmer feel.

2. Tip Size

Most snooker players use tips between 9.25 mm and 9.7 mm. Smaller tips allow for more spin, while larger tips provide stability.

3. Cue Weight

Standard snooker cues weigh between 17 oz and 19 oz.

  • Lighter cues (17 oz): better touch and finesse.

  • Heavier cues (19 oz): more power and stronger delivery.

4. Cue Length

The standard length is 58 inches, suitable for most players. Taller players may prefer longer cues (59”).

5. One-Piece vs ¾ Joint

  • One-piece cues: solid feel, ideal for home or club use.

  • ¾ joint cues: easier to transport, perfect for traveling players.

At CueShop Morocco, we offer a wide selection of handmade and branded cues to match every player’s style.
